Portico’s fixed income investment professionals have the experience and expertise to integrate fundamental, quantitative and technical analysis to add value to a portfolio while managing risk. Our fixed income credit analysts offer in-depth and proprietary research –available only to Portico’s portfolio managers. The expertise of our fixed income team allow us to offer a broad range of fixed income mandates across the spectrum of maturity and credit risk sectors. The team has an average of over 15 years of industry experience.

Dale Haynes, Vice-President, Fixed Income

As Vice-President, Fixed Income for GLC Asset Management Group Ltd., Dale Haynes shares leadership responsibility for GLCís Portico Investment Management division. This includes the oversight of more than $15 billion* of fixed income assets under management within bond, balanced, mortgage and money market mandates. As lead manager for the London Life Core Bond Fund, Dale heads up the portfolio management of the largest Canadian bond segregated fund in Canada.**

Dale has more than 20 years investment experience, including direct portfolio management responsibilities for both active and passive fixed income strategies. Dale's long tenure with GLC also includes significant corporate credit analysis and a position as lead portfolio manager for the largest mortgage segregated fund in Canada.

Dale holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation as well as an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Brock University.

Janet Salter, Vice-President, Fixed Income

As Vice-President, Fixed Income for GLC Asset Management Group Ltd., Janet Salter shares leadership responsibility for GLCís Portico Investment Management division. This includes the oversight of more than $15 billion* of fixed income assets under management. Janet is the lead manager for the GWL Core Bond Fund and Core Plus Bond mandate, and oversees Portico's sector-focused and specialized fixed income portfolios.

With more than 17 years investment experience, Janet has broad portfolio management expertise in both active and passive fixed income strategies, including customized mandates for pension plans and financial institutions. Janet's long tenure with GLC includes portfolio management of both core and specialty fixed income mandates.

Janet is a CFA charterholder and holds an Honours Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.

Ian Whiteside, Vice-President, Fixed Income

As Vice-President, Fixed Income for GLC Asset Management Group Ltd., Ian Whiteside is the lead manager of the corporate bond mandates and provides credit research covering both investment grade and non-investment grade corporate bonds. Prior to assuming management of the corporate bond mandates, Ian provided fundamental credit analysis to Porticoís portfolio managers on investment grade and non-investment grade corporate bond issuers. He has been Porticoís lead credit analyst for high-yield credit research, and was instrumental in building out GLCís credit capabilities in the Canadian high-yield corporate bond market.

Ian previously worked for CIBC Commercial Banking in its Leveraged Finance group, where he assisted with financing diversified middle market companies operating in a wide range of industries. His activities included client-relationship management, and the origination, underwriting, and syndication of senior and mezzanine debt to finance event-based transactions such as material capital expenditures, acquisitions and leveraged buy-outs. Prior to working in the finance industry, Ian was an environmental consultant with URS Corporation, and worked in the United States and the United Arab Emirates.

Ian is a CFA charterholder and holds an International MBA degree from York University and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Geological Engineering) degree from the University of Waterloo.

Natalie Laden, Manager, Fixed Income

As Manager, Fixed Income for GLC Asset Management Group Ltd., Natalie Laden is responsible for a number of specialty fixed income mandates within GLCís Portico Investment Management division. This includes the long term, ultra-long term, real return and socially responsible bond mandates.

Natalie's broad experience covers the range of the Canadian fixed income landscape having had key responsibilities for strategy formulation, fundamental and technical analysis, and security selection of core Canadian bond, mortgage, money market, focused and specialty bond mandates. Prior to the creation of Portico Investment Management, Natalie also held a key role in cash management administration for the GWL Investment Management team.

Natalie has over three decades of industry experience and holds the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation.

Jenny Wan, Manager, Fixed Income

As Manager, Fixed Income for GLC Asset Management Group Ltd., Jenny Wan is responsible for managing short term bond and government bond mandates within GLCís Portico Investment Management division. Jenny also assists in the management of Porticoís core Canadian bond mandate. Key responsibilities include strategy formulation, bond analysis, security selection and trading.

Prior to joining the Portico team (formerly Laketon fixed income) in 2010, Jenny provided operational and trading support for Laketonís fixed income portfolios and backup trading support to the Laketon equity team for six years.

Jenny earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Waterloo and a Chartered Investment Manager (CIMģ) designation. Jenny is a Level II candidate in the CFA Program.

Alexa Richardson, Associate Manager, Fixed Income

As Associate Manager, Fixed Income for GLC Asset Management Group Ltd., Alexa Richardsonís responsibilities include the management of Portico Investment Managementís income-focused mandates. This includes the fixed-income components of a number of GLCís balanced mandates as well assisting in managing the Core (Total Return) portfolios and Index like mandates.

Alexa joined the Portico team (formerly GWLIM Fixed Income) in 2009 after completing her rotations as part of Great-West Lifeís Portfolio Management Training program which she began in 2007. Alexa has gained broad fixed income experience through assisting in the management of the core Canadian bond portfolios, money market mandates, fixed-income strategy formulation, bond analysis, security selection and trading.

Alexa is a CFA charterholder and a CAIA charterholder. She holds a Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree (Finance and Human Resources) from the University of Manitoba.

Research

Foster Cheng, Manager, Fixed Income

As Manager, Fixed Income-Credit Research for GLC Asset Management Group Ltd., Foster Cheng provides credit research and analysis support to GLCís Portico Investment Management division.

Prior to joining GLC, Foster had spent several years working for the Ontario Teachersí Pension Plan (OTPP) where he oversaw and was responsible for the research and risk assessment of the fundís global portfolio of derivative trading counterparties. This included many international banks and investment dealers.

Before OTPP, Foster had spent 10 years at Standard & Poorís (S&P) where he was part of the Canadian Financial Institutions Ratings team. At S&P, his duties included primary analytical and research coverage over many well known and large Canadian banks, credit unions, insurance companies and asset managers. This included assignment of issuer debt ratings, publishing of research reports, and addressing credit-related inquiries from investors and the media.

Foster holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (With Distinction) from the University of Toronto.

Tracy Yan, Manager, Fixed Income

Siek Djoe, Senior Quantitative Analyst, Fixed Income

As Senior Quantitative Analyst, Fixed Income for GLC Asset Management Group Ltd.ís Portico Investment Management division, Siek Djoe develops, implements and supports proprietary quantitative, analytical and portfolio management tools for Porticoís fixed income team.

Prior to joining the Portico team in 2005, Joe was a business systems analyst at Manulife Financial and Deutsche Morgan Grenfell Indonesia, PT.

Joe is a CFA charterholder and holds a Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF). He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Monash University in Victoria, Australia and a Bachelor of Science (with distinction) from Iowa State University.
